FAAC Access Control Installation: The Tomball Owner’s Guide

FAAC access control installation in Tomball typically runs between $650 and $1,450 installed, depending on whether we’re replacing a keypad, receiver board, or the full controller assembly. We stock FAAC-compatible access control components on the truck, so most replacements are done same-day in Tomball. The way owners usually find us: the keypad stopped accepting the code, the remote worked yesterday and doesn’t today, or the gate opens fine but won’t respond to the intercom anymore.

Which FAAC Models This Applies To

FAAC has been building gate operators and access control systems since 1965, and their product line is broad enough that part matching matters. The access control installation we handle most often in Tomball falls into three groups: the 455 D and 412 operator series with onboard control boards, the E024U and E124 control boards (which show up on both swing and slide gates), and the standalone keypad/intercom stations paired with those boards. If you’ve got a FAAC unit with a blue control board and a plug-in radio receiver, the access control installation path is usually a board-level repair or replacement rather than a full operator swap.

A quick identification tip: open the control box and look for the model sticker. The board number is printed directly on the PCB, typically in the corner. If the sticker is faded, photograph the board and we can identify it. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with FAAC, but we match OEM and quality aftermarket parts to the board revision. FAAC changed board pin layouts between revisions, so a part that fits a 455 D built in 2011 won’t necessarily land on a 455 D built in 2018. That’s the compatibility gotcha most Tomball owners hit when they buy a part online first, then call us after it doesn’t fit.

Signs Your FAAC Access Control Installation Is Failing

Signs Your FAAC Access Control Installation Is Failing

Here’s what we see on service calls across Tomball, from Boudreaux Road to the neighborhoods off Telge:

  • Keypad accepts the code but the gate doesn’t move. The keypad is signaling, but the control board relay isn’t closing. Sometimes it’s a dead relay; just as often it’s a loose terminal screw where the keypad wire lands on the board.
  • Gate opens randomly, no one at the keypad. A failing receiver board can pick up stray radio signals, or a photo-eye misalignment is causing the board to misinterpret an obstruction. FAAC boards are sensitive to low-voltage noise, and older units show this first.
  • Remote range drops to nothing. The receiver antenna or the radio module itself is failing. In Tomball humidity, corrosion on antenna connections is common after five or six years.
  • Intercom or keypad works only in the morning or only in the evening. Thermal expansion on a cracked solder joint on the board. It makes contact when cool, opens when hot. Classic FAAC failure pattern in Texas summers.
  • Gate works from the manual button but not from any external device. The access control input circuit on the board is dead. The operator motor and limit switches are fine, which is why the manual button still works.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

FAAC access control installation in Tomball breaks down like this, based on what we actually see on the truck and on the invoice:

  • Receiver board replacement: $180-$340 installed, part included.
  • Keypad station replacement: $280-$520 installed, depending on whether it’s a surface-mount or flush-mount unit.
  • Full control board replacement (E024U/E124): $450-$750 installed, including reprogramming and limit re-verification.
  • Complete access control overhaul (board, receiver, keypad, wiring cleanup): $900-$1,450 installed.

Every price above is written and handed to you before any work starts. No “call for a quote,” no surprise invoice. Parts and labor are itemized separately on the written scope, and the work is covered under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it’s not right within a year, we make it right at no charge. Under Haven Standard Clause 4 (Evidence on every job), you get a photo log of the board before and after, the part number installed, and a written summary of every adjustment.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s a safe middle ground here. You can check the obvious: open the control box and look for loose wires, corrosion, or a board that’s visibly scorched. Take photos. That helps us before we arrive. What we don’t recommend: attempting board-level soldering or swapping a FAAC control board without the wiring diagram in hand. FAAC boards run low-voltage control circuits, but the operator itself carries line voltage, and one crossed wire between the high-voltage side and the low-voltage side destroys the new board instantly. Adrian Vance has opened more than one control box on a Tomball driveway and found the melted remains of a DIY board swap. If the board revision doesn’t match, the gate may work once and then lock itself during a limit search. Call us at (346) 248-7685 before you order parts you can’t return.
